As you may or may not know, I am writing a science-fiction novel tentatively titled “First Life.” Also, I announced yesterday that I would storyblog it here on The Tao Of Joe. To do this I have created a separate page titled “First Life” though the more I think about it, I’m inclined to create a sub-domain and do it as it’s own blog. I think that would be more in line with the storyblog concept as I understand it. A blog dedicated to the day-in, day-out writing of a novel… blow by blow.
As a result of this quest, I entered the SeRP “How To Write A Novel” into Google and was pleasantly surprised at the number of websites dedicated to this proposition.

In hindsight, I should of expected that the most radical and disruptive technology of our time, the internet, would be a treasure house of information with regard writing and publishing. There are so many resources that it took a bit of time to review the search results and pare them down to these seven. The first one listed was just published on 23 July, 2007. The rest have existed in one form or another for at least a year or two, some even longer.
Enjoy and get writing that novel now. It isn’t going to write itself. ![]()
Awesome! I look forward to reading your storyblog. As this is a new concept I’m hoping it works out.
I’ve been tinkling with the idea of writing a fiction novel myself, but I want to have a proper plot outline and a few chapters written out first before I put myself out there. I have a basic mystery/thriller plot written down, but it needs more work. And since I’ve never attempted to write a novel before I think my first attempt would pretty challenging.
