Blogging More May Look Like Blogging Less

Jeremiah Owyang began a conversation the other day on his blog “Web Strategy By Jeremiah.” It was picked up by Steve Rubel and he took it further with his post “When Less Is More and More Is Less.” Steve discusses micro-blogging vs. blogging old style and the win-win of doing both. Jeremiah meanwhile continued the following day, pointing out that the discussion evolved into the topic of “Storyblogging” and this is where I come into the discussion. I have a story to write and this story really wants to get out of my head and on to a readable media format as soon as possible.

As Steve notes, I am finding that a mix of micro-blogging and old-style work well for me. I don’t have the audience that Steve has but I do find that when I post to Twitter more frequently my blog’s readership goes up. You can follow me on Twitter and always know when I have posted something new on my blog. I have a link between the two thanks to Alex King’s Twitter Tools plugin for Wordpress.

As for Storyblogging, I am going to add a new page into “The Tao Of Joe” blog and there I will begin writing my science-fiction novel tentatively titled “First Life (better than your Second Life).” It is a story about a man attempting to understand reality in a future world where reality is whatever you want it to be. Technology has advanced to the point that you can subscribe to whatever reality you want and live there 24/7. Unfortunately, multiple realities are making people sick and the corporate one world government of the future is denying the reality of this. The main character has stumbled upon the truth and is then forced to choose between his own separate but safe reality or plunging headlong into a multi-verse that might cost him his sanity. It is from within the multi-verse that he has the only chance of a saving humanity and plausibly his own sanity that he was trying to protect all along. Or something like that.

Guaranteed to be the trip of a lifetime and if there is one thing I know about, it is about tripping and various levels of reality.

Another side bit to micro-blogging is that I have decided to resurrect “All Things Twitter.” I took the site off line a week or so ago but am bringing it back due to popular demand. “All Things Twitter” is my original micro-blog about all things Twitter. I will continue to post items related to Twitter there. These posts concern Twitter related news events or related products and services that are available for those who use Twitter and are interested in these things. It seems this blog is developing a long tail effect for readership and it would be stupid of me to discard it.

It was also picked up by Scoble, and then carried into Facebook in a MicroMedia format on Kyte!
