This is my second entry to the Mahalo iPhone Contest: No Free Lunch Theorem.
I chose “No Free Lunch Theorem” for my second entry to this contest. I chose this particular SERP because I felt that it specifically address’s a problem that all search engines face - “On a particular problem, different search algorithms may obtain different results, but over all problems, they are indistinguishable.” - quoted from Wikipedia entry for No Free Lunch Theorem.
This is is to Mahalo’s advantage. Google has over 55% of the market share for search but it does not do any better on average when compared to any other search engine in the top 10. The reason Google has a bigger market share is they have an outstanding Marketing Department and have masterfully played their “Do No Evil” PR message.
And this is where Jason Calacanis steps into the picture, he is the supreme marketer and pr strategist. Combine that with human-powered search results that are consistently above average and you have a sure winner in Mahalo.com. Mark my words, this venture is a sure bet because it is Jason’s baby.
