I am accepting some paid blogging work that I have been offered and, as a result, I will have the opportunity to write a lot more than I have been. I really can’t think of a better way to spend my summer vacation and I’m looking forward to finding out what the universe has in store for me.
I remember beginning a conscious effort of putting my heart-mind energy out there starting in mid-January to become successful as a Blogger. I had toyed with blogging on and off since about 2003 but would always stop after a month or so. This time I made a commitment to myself to settle in for the long haul(10 years) and write about whatever stirs my interest. I have also chosen to experiment with style and topics. Some particular writing styles excite me more than others and I wish to become intimate with the different voices that are available to me.
It is gratifying to be offered work in this medium. Especially after having only begun such a short time ago. Of course if you spoke to anyone that has known me since high school they would ask why had it taken me so long. My knack for word-smithing began in my sophomore year of high school, at that time I was the poetry editor for the school’s literary magazine. I have always loved using language to evoke imagery in another’s imagination. Often I will find myself recalling the sound of an author’s voice as I have imagined it while reading a particularly moving passage in something I’ve read. It is these voices that sometimes guide me in my own writing.
The profit side of the equation is rather difficult for me to measure at this time and I’m really not worried about it. I can’t see how more exposure won’t help the cause though. It is my goal to become sustained financially by this blog and it will surely happen. When any one of us takes the time to explore our inner voice and bring it out into the light of day, exposed to the world, something is bound to happen.
From an intentional living perspective I couldn’t have created a better foundation than the one I am building today one post at a time. I find myself wondering if there is anybody reading this blog that has their own success story to share about creating the world they wish to live in intentionally? If so please leave a comment and share your own experience with the rest of us. I know quite few people are actually reading ‘The Tao of Joe’ regularly from the stats I receive but it seems that we’re not a chatty bunch with the exception of yours truly.
You go, Joe! Strong intentions have a way of making odd breaks in life, things that look like luck except for the sense of rightness that’s personal, intimate. At 56, my life makes my dreams at 30 look anemic. It didn’t hurt to stop drinkig 22 years ago. But the dreams themselves contained the code for what’s unfolded.
Len, it is interesting to me how malleable reality is in some respects. Stories are such powerful influences of our lives. We all have our story but we can drop it as zazen has taught me. But I also believe there is value in having a story. All it takes is a “twist” and a new story can be created and like our dreams, our stories have the code, the foundation for new direction to manifest itself right before the tip of our nose. We can follow our bliss as Joseph Campbell points out AND forget the self again and again.
Thank you for your insight and enthusiasm!
