A New Editor And How To Crank Out A Post In 30 Minutes or Less

So this is my first post to my blog using Google Docs & Spreadsheets. I am interested in seeing if it works well as an alternative to posting from within Wordpress and whether or not it gives me more functionality. It wouldn’t take much to be more functional than Wordpress.

I also have a sudden interest in speed posting. How well can I write in 30 minutes or less a day? I have a habit of spending 3 hours on a post and that isn’t going to work anymore as far as I can tell. Time is a premium and I must squeeze more out of my day if I am going to accomplish all the different tasks I need to get done each day.
Lately I have so much going on in addition to raising a couple of smart little people, that I have to learn how to write without all the editing I do now. Kris would probably dig it too if I could just crank out the days post and get on with all the other stuff we have to accomplish.
I call this stream of consciousness writing. I just start typing and see what spills out onto the page. After the fact I go back and see if anything I have written is actually interesting or not. Additionally, it is pretty funny to watch me typing at this speed. I can get typing fairly quickly and considering that I don’t type correctly, using only two fingers and a thumb on the right hand and forefinger and thumb on the left I look more like a crippled seal using one flipper to swim in a straight line.
What actually takes me the longest is getting inspired to post something that I think is interesting. I can spend three or 4 hours reading different blogs and websites before I know what it is I am going to write about that day. I’d like to just sit down and get going and see what happens in the moment without any contrivance.
Of course the kids can give me all kinds of inspiration, the things they do and the things I get into with them can be pretty amusing. We are always finding something right out the front door that is entertaining for all of us. Just taking the time to listen to a two year old reveals a perspective that is uniquely refreshing. The well worn pathways of my own mind often find new routes to take when I pay attention to Spencer and Georgia’s own take on the very subject I regard as mundane.
In the end it appears that all I really need is to focus my energy and just go for it. The worst that can happen is that I will find my post boring or scattered and rambling. If this were done while driving a motorcycle or worse then I would think twice about it, but I don’t think anyone is going to die today as a result of my so called speed posting effort.
