Twitter

I have been using Twitter for about a month. I wasn’t that impressed at first. But it was making so much noise in the many blogs and sites that I follow I decided to not make any assumptions about what it was or wasn’t and give it some time. After a couple of days I really began to appreciate Twitter, now after several weeks, I am hooked!

I think it’s biggest appeal is that it allows you to add friends. Now any ordinary Joe or Jane can select the people they wish to follow and feel a part of something bigger. You can create the illusion that you are part of an ‘In’ crowd of your own choosing. I am sure Scobleizer isn’t following this blog and neither is Chris Pirillo or Jeremiah Owyang but I get their tweets(and other peeps similar) and it makes for an interesting experience that I have come to enjoy.

I have several Twitter accounts that I have set up and then I use each to follow a particular area of interest by adding high profile Twitterers of greater and lesser importance. By gathering tweets according to interest I get a picture of what is happening in that piece of the Internet biz that I did not have available before Twitter. Of course their interest in Twitter could wane and then I might not get as much enjoyment out of it as I do now. I seriously doubt that though ’cause I find a new idea at least once a day for new ways to use Twitter.
